Creative video platform TikTok has
partnered with MyHealthKKM, the Education Health Division of the Ministry of
Health, Malaysia, to start a COVID-19 public health awareness campaign tagged,
“#KitaJagaKita” that advocates for mass vaccinations. The campaign aims to
provide easily accessible – and most importantly – verified information and
resources related to the pandemic.

Users on TikTok will be pleases to find up-to-date information and government guidelines on various topics including the latest COVID-19 case numbers, updated standard operation procedures (SOPs) and changes in National Plans through the #KitaJagaKita hashtag, which is populated with educational videos from medical professionals. The tag will also feature informative livestreams from public health experts and healthcare professionals to address key concerns Malaysians have about COVID-19, such as vaccine hesitancy due to misinformation.

The Ministry of
Health, meanwhile, will support the #KitaJagaKita campaign through public
service announcements (PSAs) and news in bite-sized, engaging videos on their
official TikTok channels, @myhealthkkm and @kkmputrajaya.

TikTok has
additionally introduced in-app educational PSAs on COVID-19 related hashtags as
well as a video reporting category for Misleading Content.

Kristoffer Eduard Rada, Head of Public
Policy Malaysia, TikTok, expressed that the platform “hopes to work closely
with MyHealthKKM to maximise impact and provide access to credible information
from trusted sources, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and
positive environment for users.”

TikTok’s initiatives in Malaysia are in
tandem with global partnerships with key public health organisations such as
the World Health Organisation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) and UNICEF on vaccination drives and to promote responsible behaviour
during the pandemic.
