Beat that fatigue
Most of us have probably experienced fatigue. Fatigue is unexplained extreme tiredness. It is usually caused by factors such as stress, unhealthy diet and not enough sleep.
The following are some of the ways for you to combat fatigue:
1. Exercise.
Start with a 15-minute exercise routine, such as walking, and then begin increasing the time of your exercise gradually over weeks and months. Physicians recommend two-and-a-half hours of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, such as cycling or fast walking, every week.
2. Eat small meals frequently
Instead of eating large meals as most of us are accustomed to, switch to smaller meals three or four times a week to kick that fatigue.
3. Minimise caffeine
Caffeine exists in coffee, tea and colas. It is important for you to avoid these drinks if you want to cure your fatigue. The best way to do it is to gradually lessen your caffeine intake over a three-week period. Try to stay off caffeine completely for a month to see if you feel less tired without it.
4. Quit alcohol
Despite easing you to sleep at night, alcohol consumption will only make you feel fatigued the day after even if you sleep for 8 hours. The National Health Service (NHS) recommends that men and women should not regularly drink more than 14 units a week, which is equivalent to six pints of average strength beer or 10 small glasses of low strength wine.
5. Drink more plain water
Sometimes you may feel tired simply because you’re mildly dehydrated. A glass of water will do the trick, especially after exercise.
