How not to overeat

January 12, 2015

It’s easy to get into the habit of overeating. Here are several ways to not overeat:

  • Opt for smaller portions: when it comes to food, portion matters. If you are eating alone, eat half and bring the other half home for your next meal. If you are eating with a friend, share the entrée together or pick two appetizers instead of one huge meal.
  • Stop eating before you are full.
  • Be discerning of what you eat: it’s easy to eat when food is put in front of you, but me more mindful of what goes into your stomach.
  • Have a pre-meal snack: eating a (healthy) snack before your meal can make you fill fuller and prevent you from overeating.
  • Slow down: there’s no reason to rush your meal!
