Asia’s cutting edge healthcare technologies at Rehabtech

March 19, 2015

RehabTech Asia will be back for its second iteration from 26 to 28 March 2015 at Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre. The trade show provides a unifying platform that brings together Asia’s healthcare professionals with the world’s solution providers to work towards managing Asia’s increasing demand for integrated long term care (ILTC) more effectively.

Organised by SingEx Exhibitions, RehabTech Asia is the region’s leading exhibition dedicated to rehabilitation, integrated care and assistive technology targeted at policy makers and healthcare and medical professionals by providing an integrated platform to discuss and learn about the latest innovations and solutions in the industry. For innovators, manufacturers and solution providers, it is a platform to launch and test production offerings with potential buyers from the region.

Swiss medtech company Hocoma, manufacturer of robotic and sensor-based devices for functional movement therapy will be exhibiting again following a positive experience during the inaugural RehabTech Asia in 2013. “It helped us to further enhance our brand image in Asia, launch new products, build our prospect database and maintain valuable relationships with our existing customers.” says Zen Koh, Managing Director of Hocoma Asia Pacific and Singapore. “RehabTech Asia is a great platform to present and discuss new technologies and solutions to improve the quality of life of patients which is why we are excited to return this year with many new innovations on board.”

Exhibitors such as Falcon Mobility Pte Ltd will be using the exhibition to launch one of its new products. Says William Chew, Falcon Mobility PteLtd’s Managing Director, “We are happy to be back at RehabTech Asia 2015. It is the perfect platform for us to launch our new lightweight mobility scooter. It brings together healthcare professionals, clinicians, hospital administrators, caregivers, and end-users under one roof, the perfect audience for a new mobility product like ours.”

Ottobock, a German company that offers products and services in prosthetics, orthotics, neurorehabilitation and mobility solutions will also be returning again this year. Daryl Lim, Ottobock South East Asia’s Business Manager says, “RehabTech Asia gives us a great opportunity to meet medical professionals, decision makers and buyers from all over the region in one location. The organisers did such a good job the last time that we decided to participate again this year.”

Additionally at the exhibition, the Asia Pacific Assistive, Rehabilitative & Therapeutic Technologies Network (APARTT-NET) will be holding the finals of their AR&TTs Challenge 2015, a competition to encourage social innovators in the region to develop technologies for independent living.

The last day of RehabTech Asia (28 March) will be open to the public where there will be hearing screening tests carried out by professionally qualified staff from Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) and comprise two separate screeners; the Middle Ear Analyser and Oto Acoustic Emission (OAE) test. Entrance to the exhibition is free.

Meanwhile, also held in conjunction with Rehabtech Asia is the Singapore Rehabilitation Conference, along with the NeuroRehabilitation Medicine & Innovation Asia Pacific Congress and the Rehabilitation Engineering Society and Assistive Technology of North America (RESNA) Asia Pacific Conference The addition of these conferences reinforces RehabTech Asia’s commitment to providing an integrated platform in Asia for meaningful discussions about how society and the industry can rehabilitate patients with disabilities, enable the elderly and improve overall standards of integrated care.

The annual Singapore Rehabilitation Conference, jointly organised by SingEx Exhibitions and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, focuses on improving and increasing access to technology and rehabilitation products and services to enable inclusion and participation for people with disabilities.

Keynote speaker at the Singapore Rehabilitation Conference, Dr Alberto Esquenazi, Chief Medical Officer at MossRohab, Pennysylvania, USA, says, “I will be looking at case studies where bioengineering, when applied to improve care, has played a key role in developing substitutes to improve human function. I hope to plant small seeds for new ideas and encourage collaborative communication between medical professionals, engineers and the potential users to further advance what is possible as new technology becomes available.”

Also featured at the event is the inaugural NeuroRehabilitation Medicine & Innovation Asia Congress, which aims to be the premier networking platform for neurology, neurosurgery, and physical medicine and rehabilitation professionals interested in improving the continuum of care for people with disabilities. Delegates can expect to learn about the latest developments, share ideas and experience, and create sustainable collaborations.

Also for the first time, RESNA will be bringing the first Asian edition of the RESNA Asia Pacific Conference to be held alongside RehabTech Asia. With the theme “Technology & Ageing”, the conference will be a unique, multi-disciplinary gathering of assistive technology professionals from around the world.

RESNA will also be presenting the AT Fundamentals Course which will provide interested individuals with an overview of numerous areas of assistive technology. It is also designed to broaden the knowledge of AT providers. Multiple case studies will be used during the course to illustrate applications of principles and theories in assistive technology provision.
