Concerns over enterovirus are escalating locally: CDC
TAIPEI -The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned Thursday of a growing enterovirus threat, saying that Taiwan could see a significant enterovirus outbreak in the coming weeks.
The number of enterovirus cases grew to 6,600 between April 19 and April 25, a 20 percent increase from the previous week, the CDC said.
The surge indicates the possibility that an enterovirus epidemic could break out in the near future, said CDC Deputy Director-General Chou Jih-haw.
The public should pay more attention to personal hygiene, especially in the face of water rationing in several parts of the country, the CDC said. -The China Post
