Malaysian Health Minister: government will continue to deliver healthcare at the minimum possible cost

June 17, 2015

The Malaysian government will not be deregulating the healthcare anytime soon, the Malaysian Health Minister said on Monday.

Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam told the audience at APHM International Healthcare Conference and Exhibition 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre that Malaysian citizens have the right to access good quality healthcare and that it is the duty of the government to deliver healthcare at a “minimum possible cost”.

He also added that there were unscrupulous folks out there who wanted to profit from the Goods and Service Tax (GST), and that the government is trying its best to protect the public from them.

This is the 23rd time that APHM is being held. The theme of this year’s program is “Managing today’s hospitals in the current regulatory framework”.

The Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) was registered in 1972. Today, the association has 120 members from all over Malaysia.
