Medical Fair Thailand 2019 prepares for future healthcare concerns
As Thailand continues to strengthen its status as a medical hub of ASEAN/Asia, investment and innovation is key – Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA) will be part of national pavilions at the ninth edition of its medical fair – officiated by Dr. Prapon Tangsrikeartikul, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health. In line with Thailand 4.0, the showing will highlight regional healthcare challenges alongside the participation of about 60 local companies, ranging from suppliers of hospital equipment to medical technology. The NIA will present new ideas on 3D printing of prosthetics, wearable technology and telemedicine, all of which are relevant to the market at the moment.
The exhibition will debut the Community Care Pavilion, to tackle Thailand’s rapidly aging population and higher rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The national Board of Investment has forecast that the Thai population over 60 will exceed that of other regions by 2045, including Europe and the US. The Community Care Pavilion will then present various solutions needed to cope with the demands of the healthcare system in the upcoming years.
Organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, the fair also features a Start-Up Park that will showcase innovations and digital solutions for medical procedures. It will see some 1,000 exhibitors from 60 countries in a wide representation of national pavilions and county/regional groups – of these, Brazil, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Israel will be participating for the first time.
Dr. Prapon, impressed with the line-up, said the exhibition can propel local companies to regional and international markets and further showcases the country’s capabilities in the healthcare industry.
The 2019 event is held at BITEC in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 11th-13th September.
Kanokporn Damrongkul, Director of the Exhibition Department, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), urges participation in the trade show to complement Thailand’s 4.0 policy through the MICE sector. MICE – Meetings, Incentive Travel, Convention and Exhibition – generate around 95k million baht in revenue for the country and fuel its economic drive.
