Ikea exposes morning routines around the world
Which world city has the earliest risers? And where are people more inclined to hit the snooze button before starting the day? Which metropolises watch the news before heading to the office and which ones prefer to stay in bed for cuddles or hit the gym?
Luckily Ikea has the answers, thanks to its new ‘Life at home‘ survey, which reveals the morning routines of people in Berlin, London, Moscow, Mumbai, New York, Paris, Shanghai and Stockholm.
From breakfast habits to bathing rituals, the report unveils surprising details about how the world wakes up.
For instance, over 90% of residents in Shanghai prefer not to take a shower in the morning and almost 50% of people in Mumbai like to get in an exercise session when they get up, according to the survey.
Fourteen percent of people in Moscow like to cuddle when the alarm goes off, whilst almost 20% of Stockholm citizens will hit the snooze button three times before taking on the day.
Meanwhile, despite the wonderful invention that is the croissant, 57% of people in Paris do not see themselves as ‘morning people’.
The report is accompanied by a ‘Data mixing board‘ which allows users to compare the facts and figures between cities.
General well-being, life satisfaction, and emotions such as feeling stressed or creative in the morning are also taken into account in the report.
The survey is the first part of the Swedish furniture giant’s wider ‘Life at home’ series, which will be delving into domestic routines throughout the world.
