China destroys substandard foods, cosmetics

CHINA – The entry-exit inspection and quarantine authorities stopped 86 batches of substandard foods and eight batches of substandard cosmetics from entering the domestic market in June, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on Monday.

The substandard food was mostly beverages, liquor and snacks, which came from 23 countries and regions. Major defects included microorganism pollution and substandard food additives, the administration said.

All the problematic food and cosmetics were returned or destroyed, according to the administration.
