Home remedies to get rid of an itchy scalp
Have an itch in your scalp which usually starts when you are surrounded by a group of people or are in the middle of something important? This can be quite an embarrassing problem as if you itch it will look bad and if you don’t, it will irritate your scalp. Instead of giving in to your urge to itch, why not get rid of it? Here are a few home remedies which can help you.
Few reasons you have an itchy scalp:
Fenugreek or methi seeds
Soak a handful of these seeds overnight in water and then strain the liquid the next morning. Now rinse your scalp with this solution. This will help relieve you of itchy scalp as fenugreek has a nourishing effect on your scalp and has anti-fungal properties as well. If you have dandruff which is causing your scalp to turn itchy, it will help banish that too.
Neem leaves
Neem is another natural way to get rid of an itchy scalp. It has anti-bacterial properties which prevent infections and help in getting rid of them too. First, grind some leaves in a mixer and then add water to it to make a thick paste. Massage this on your scalp and let it stay for a few minutes to show its effects. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Continue applying this pack every week till you notice a difference in your itchiness.
Basil or tulsi
Basil fights against scalp infections and provides relief by having a soothing effect on your scalp. To make a paste, mix sesame oil with ground tulsi leaves in a pot. Now add a few methi seeds and heat on a low flame till they crackle. Then strain the solution and let it cool. Apply on scalp for 30 minutes and then wash away.
Coconut oil
If your itchiness is due to a dry scalp, make sure you massage it well with coconut oil as it deep conditions and penetrates deep into your hair shaft to remove the dryness. Warm it a little for added benefit. Massage it on your scalp and also hair an hour before your bath. Then shampoo it well. If you want, you can also leave in a bit of the oil to reduce dryness but make sure it does not get mixed with sweat and cause more itchiness.
Apple cider vinegar
If you have an itchy scalp due to excessive sweating or greasiness on your scalp, you can use apple cider vinegar to get rid of the same. It will help kill the bacteria and unclog blocked pores. You can apply it with a cotton ball on your scalp and then wrap a warm towel to let it seep in your scalp and then wash your hair with water. or, after your shampoo, take a last rinse of apple cider vinegar and water.
