2 in 3 women wake up at night because of full bladder
A survey of more than 2,000 northern California women ages 40 years and older have found that two thirds of them suffer from interrupted sleep due to full bladder. This condition is called nocturia.
The study, published in the January issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology said this was because people middle-age women are more likely to have had hysterectomy, hot flashes, and have used vaginal estrogen.
Researchers were previously confused as to the reason that caused women to have a full bladder and wake up at night.
How to prevent nocturia:
- Lessen fluid intake four to five hours before bedtime.
- Lessen your caffeine intake.
- Keep your alcohol-intake at a moderate level.
