Alcohol claims lives of middle-aged men more than any other group

January 8, 2015

A report released Tuesday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that three-quarters of those who die from alcohol-poisoning were those 35 to 64, most of them men.

This comes as a surprise as they had thought that alcohol-poisoning would have claimed more youths than any other category.

The result was found after CDC searched 2010 to 2012 death records, and concentrated on those who died from a single episode of binge-drinking. Binge-drinking cans hut down parts of the brain that regulate breathing, temperature and heart rate.

They also found that 2, 221 people die each year on average in the US from alcohol-poisoning.
