Family vacation safety tips
1. Research, research, research your destination. This will help you to travel more confidently and more safely.
2. Whip out the sunblock for you and your children.
3. If you’re going for a road trip, prepare these items:
- Water
- Warm blankets
- A flashlight
- Jumper cables
- Flares
- Tools to change a tire
- A fully charged cell phone
- A first-aid kit
4. Get a night’s sleep before you head to your next destination. If you’re driving and feel tired along the way, pull aside to the nearest rest stop and have a short nap.
5. Don’t openly display prized possessions such as camera, wallet and jewelry as this will attract the attention of thieves.
6. When travelling in an airplane, pack some toys and colouring books for your kids to ensure they’re occupied.
7. Warn you children that in under no circumstances should they make statements such as “I have a bomb in my bag”.
8. If you’re travelling internationally, check with your child’s doctor to see if he/she needs any vaccination.
9. Whether in a flight or in a car, make sure that you and your children are buckled up.
10. A safe family is a family that sticks together. Make sure your kids are with you at all times.
