Oregon Medical Group modernizes clinics SimpliVity
The Oregon Medical Group announced that it will be using Simplivity to improve IT infrastructures in its clinics.
Oregon Medical Group’s legacy infrastructure provided limited high availability and disaster recovery capabilities. This situation posed a significant risk to the clinical services that Oregon Medical Group delivered to its patients. The organization also doubted the legacy infrastructure could scale to meet the needs of the business. After replacing its legacy IT systems with SimpliVity’s solution, the company:
- Simplified hardware infrastructure and system maintenance tasks, reducing operating expenditures by 20%.
- Leveraged built-in data protection for local and remote backups and achieved data capacity savings of more than 200:1 through inline deduplication, compression and optimization
- Reduced recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) to minutes with automated site recovery
“Our mission-critical applications were at risk due to our legacy IT infrastructure. We had limited disaster recovery capabilities and knew that we’d have hours of downtime in a recovery scenario,” said David Trammell, IT Systems Engineer at Oregon Medical Group. “SimpliVity has allowed us to improve our VM performance and availability, and we can now recover from system failures seamlessly across sites in minutes, not hours.”
Oregon Medical Group utilizes SimpliVity to host mission-critical applications, including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, WebApp and healthcare worker collaboration tools, across its network of fifteen clinics, supporting 140 physicians in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. The organization also plans to migrate its GE Centricity Practice Solution EMR system from a legacy NetApp 3000 series system to SimpliVity in the future. Oregon Medical Group has already achieved cost savings of 40% with SimpliVity and improved operational efficiency, allowing IT staff to be more productive.
“Legacy data center architectures that lack high availability and resiliency aren’t optimized for today’s highly virtualized IT environments,” said Doron Kempel, CEO, SimpliVity.
“SimpliVity provides the only hyperconverged solution that assimilates all IT below the hypervisor. By consolidating a wide range of IT functions onto common hardware, with global unified management, the solution helps Oregon Medical Group improve business continuity while eliminating complexity and increasing business agility.”
