Three conferences by APHM to discuss current issues in healthcare

Three conferences will be held back-to-back to address the contemporary issues faced by the local healthcare sector.

The first conference called “APHM International Healthcare Conference” will be held on 15 June this year. It will gather industry players and regulators to discuss the imposition of several acts and policies that affect private hospitals, such as the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Medical Devices Act and the Dasar Ubat Negara, among others.

APHM is the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, and the theme of the conference is “Managing Today’s Hospitals in the Current Regulatory Framework.”

Keynote speakers will include Senator Dato’ Sri Idris Jala (Minister in Prime Minister’s Department), Dr Wong Chiang Yin (Group CEO & Executive Director, TMC Life Sciences Berhad) and Dr Ahmad Razid Salleh (Director,  Medical Practice Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia), among others.

The conference will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.

The second conference, to be held at the same venue, is called the “APHM International Nursing Conference”. It will address some issues such as understanding disease outbreaks, global threats of emerging diseases, and the infection control of today.

The third event called the “APHM Medico-Legal Conference” will be held on 17 June, at the same venue. It will hold updates and debates on medico-legal risks. Some of the topics that will be discussed are:

• The release of Medical Records – the competing legal provisions.
• The discovery of internal investigations and reviews – the legal position and the practical implications.
• A debate on whether the medico-legal disputes is a feasible alternative to litigation.

Both conferences are open to the public.
