What to eat for gorgeous skin
I have to admit, I tucked into a good number of kueh kapit and pineapple tarts during this year’s Chinese New Year season. Not to forget the odd one or two kueh bakul as well, another lunar new year must-have.
Nothing like ushering in the year of the Goat by sinking your teeth into a glorious assortment of tidbits.
Whilst they may be mouth-watering and may leave you begging for more, they aren’t the most healthy of foods. Sure, you can tuck into them once in a while, in moderation, hopefully.
But there are certain foods that you can eat without feeling the least bit guilty.
I’ll like to share with you some of the superfoods available that will promote the health and beauty of your skin. If you can get your hands on them, you can be sure that your skin will thank you for it.
One of my favourite drinks whenever I visit Indonesia is air apokat. That’s what they call the delicious creamy drink made from fresh avocados and topped with chocolate sauce.
You can utilise avocados in the war against wrinkles. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, good fats and antioxidants.
Besides consuming them fresh, you can also add them to your salads. Or Google up the recipe for air apokat to indulge in this healthy, tasty beverage.
Thinking of detox? Think of melons. Whether wintermelons or watermelons, melons are a good way to detox your body. They are cheap and easily available, not to forget yummy too.
Whilst on the subject of fruits, strawberries, or many other berries for that matter, are wonderful sources of vitamins. Also packed with iron, strawberries also help to clean up your system.
My good friend Dr Hamdi is mad about strawberries. Whether freshly handpicked from the farm in Cameron Highlands, in the form of jams, or as part of a dessert, Hamdi can never say no when offered these bright red fruits. Perhaps that’s why he looks much younger than his actual age of 40.
