Workaholics more prone to alcoholism
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health in Helsinki, Finland recently found that workaholics were more likely to consume alcohol excessively, predisposing them to alcohol-related illnesses such as liver disease, mental disorders and heart disease.
The study is based on previous statistics that showed that 4 out of 10 people in the US worked for 50 hours or more in a week.
This is not the first study with similar results. Medical News Today reported on a study suggesting people who work 61-70 hours a week are at 42% higher risk of coronary heart disease. Another study found that people who work more than 55 hours a week in low-paid jobs were more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
