DOH ramps up medical aid in evacuation centers after typhoon Nando
In the Philippines, typhoon season has begun. The recent Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) affected several areas even after exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
In response, the Department of Health (DOH)- Central Luzon Center for Health Development launched immediate medical operations in evacuation centers across the region, following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to assist typhoon victims.
The DOH reported that 305 families, or 915 individuals, are currently staying in Central Luzon evacuation centers. Services include medical consultations, regular monitoring, especially for children and the elderly, and the distribution of free medicines.
Meanwhile, the DOH-Cagayan Valley Medical Center announced it remains on alert and ready to provide medical care to affected residents.
The DOH reiterated its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of displaced families. It also issued safety reminders, warning the public of landslides and floodwaters, and advising people to move to higher ground and avoid wading or swimming in floods to prevent drowning and leptospirosis.
